Carrie Moyer was born in Detroit, MI and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her MFA from Bard College, MA from New York Institute of Technology, and BFA from Pratt Institute. In a recent review Drew Lowenstein of ArtCritcial referred to Moyer's abstract works as "a seemingly effortless play of contrasts between texture, color, and line [that] masks complexity and maintains clarity of image. The formal ease, large size, decorous color, and elegant composition push beauty to the edge of current taste." Moyer is the recipient of the the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant, Creative Capital Foundation Grant, New York State Council on the Arts Independent Artist Grant, Artist Pension Trust, and was the recipient of the Printshop's 2004 Special Editions Residency. Select exhibitions include Samson Projects, Boston MA; Diverseworks, Houston, TX; and Triple Candie, New York, NY. Moyer teaches at Hunter College, NY, and is represented by CANADA, New York, NY.
