Ryan Humphrey was born in 1971 in Ashtabula, OH and lives and works in New York, NY. He received his MFA from Hunter College and BFA from Ohio University. The mixed-media artist who grew up around BMX bikes and skateboards has translated his upbringing into high art. Humphrey’s installations combine found materials such as furniture, car parts, wheels, and other reclaimed items that exude pop-culture, energy, and life. Recent solo shows include Levy Gallery for the Arts, Philadelphia, PA; DCKT Contemporary, New York, NY; Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO; and White Box, New York, NY. He is included in several private collections nationwide and was a contestant on Bravo TV's Top Design reality show.
