Cecile Chong was born in Ecuador and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her MFA from Parsons, The New School for Design; MA in Education from Hunter College; and BA from Queens College, NY. Chong is a mixed-media artist whose work addresses the process of cultural assimilation and the development of individual identity. Her exposure to different cultural objects and ideas has driven her fascination with how these influences are acquired, represented, and interpreted. She was awarded participation in several residency programs and received the Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant.
