Manuel Acevedo was born in 1964 in Newark, NJ and lives and works in New York, NY.

Acevedo practices photography, drawing, video, and flipbook animation and explores work that is a combination of these mediums. His work addresses neglected parts of city landscape and often puts forth an envisioned future of idealism and possibility. He is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Distinguished Artist Award. He has participated in national and international exhibitions including, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City, NY; The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, NY; The Queens Museum of Art, NY; Exit Art, New York, NY; Westfaelischer Kunstverein, Muenster, Germany; Museo de la Ciudad, Madrid Spain; and Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT.
