Su-en Wong was born in Singapore in 1973, and lives and works in New York, NY. She received her MFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and BA from University of Puget Sound. Her drawings depict multiplied identities, the subject always being female, often a projection of herself. There is a distinct duality within Wong’s work, surrounding conflicting issues of self-obsession and self-criticism, power and vulnerability, fantasy versus reality, public versus private persona, and good versus evil. She is the recipient of grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts; The Joan Mitchell Foundation; and the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, among others. Public collections include the Denver Art Museum, CO; Portland Art Museum, OR; and Rockford Art Museum, IL.
