Fawad Khan was born in 1978 in Tripoli, Libya and lives and works in New York, NY. He received his MFA from School of Visual Arts, BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, and studied at the Center for Art and Culture, Aix-en-Provence, France. His works on paper and installations portray vintage and foreign model automobiles of his childhood in a chaotic, explosive mix of shattered particles and bursts of color. Khan’s art comments on violent imagery in contemporary culture, oppressive military culture, and the current political climate. He is the recipient of several residency programs including the Printshop's 2008 Special Editions Residency. Solo exhibitions include Lu Magnus, New York, NY; Galeria Leyendecker, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain; Shrine Empire Gallery, New Delhi, India; and 33 Bond Gallery, New York, NY. |
