McGinness was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia (1972) and is now based in New York. He was a recipient of a Publications Residency at the Lower East Side Printshop in 2007. Art Basel Miami commissioned the artist to present a large-scale installation Art Positions, in 2007. Recent solo exhibitions include the inaugural show at Pace Prints Chelsea gallery andRyan McGinness: Varied Editions, A Rich Fantasy Life, Quint Contemporary Art in La Jolla, California. The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and The Saatchi Collection have recently acquired works by the artist.
