Matthew Day Jackson was awarded a publishing residency at the Lower East Side Printshop in 2007.  During that time he created a major print installation titled Metamorphosis, an artwork that traversed several printmaking mediums, utilized a range of materials, and assembled images from a diverse library of cultural references, which was then purchased by the Whitney Museum of American Art. For the Printshop Benefit 08, Jackson created a special unique work on wood,Impaled Head II, 2008, that relates to his series of oval portraits of figures who have made a significant impact on the artist through their standing and influence in art history, politics, and society as a whole.

Matthew Day Jackson is based in New York, and has been included in major survey exhibitions such as Day for Night, Whitney Biennial, NY and Greater New York, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, NY. Recent solo exhibitions include Paradise Now! (The Salvage), Workspace: Matthew Day Jackson, Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, TX; Paradise Now! (Limbo) featuring "Looking for Mother Nature", Cubitt Artists Space, London, UK; Paradise Now! Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Portland; and You Are Here, The Ballroom, Marfa, Texas.Group shows include Uncertain States of America – American Art in the 3rd Millennium, shown at the Herning Kunstmuseum, Denmark; Serpentine Gallery, London, England; Reykjavik Art Museum, Denmark; Museum at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, NY among other locations.
