Emma Amos, born in 1938 in Atlanta, Georgia, reflects her African-American heritage through paintings, prints and weavings that explore political and social issues of Black life. Amos currently lives and works in New York City and has exhibited widely throughout the United States. She is a professor of painting and drawing at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Her work is included in multiple private, corporate, and museum collections including The Ford Foundation, New York Public Library, and Studio Museum in Harlem.
